Residents:
Your safety and security is a very important issue in determining your overall
comfort and happiness in life, and it is also very important to your Resident
Services Office (RSO) staff. For this reason I hope you will give me the opportunity
to tell you about some of our services and goals.
Many of you have probably been acquainted with some of our staff already, but
I am guessing most of you are unfamiliar with some of our services. You most likely
have already noticed a Hannon Patrol vehicle drive slowly through your parking
lot trying to keep loiterers out of your area or spoken to one of our Officers
about a disturbance in your neighborhood. We would like to encourage you to contact
us before you have a crisis.
If you have noticed an area on your property that you believe is or could be
a place of a problem, we want to hear from you. You may, for example, have noticed
a normally locked lobby door blocked open several times lately. We want to know
about it. Your doors are locked for a reason. It is very possible that the people
that are blocking the doors open are not supposed to be in your building.
I would also like to encourage you to contact us about things that you believe
could cause problems in the future but may not necessarily be a problem now. There
could be many potential problems that you could alert us to so as to avoid future
problems. A poorly lit section in your parking lot inviting vandalism or a cracked
tree branch that could break and hurt someone are only a couple examples of problems
that we would like to hear about. I am sure you can think of others.
I also want to point out that we do not consider ourselves to be “security.”
We are Resident Services. We are here to help make your living environment
as safe and comfortable as
possible. If you are unsure whether we handle a particular issue or problem,
call us. We will try to help, and if we cannot help you, we will try to
send you in the right direction.
The RSO is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your convenience. To learn
